A World First CHALKHILL LIVES is the world’s first community produced television and Internet soap opera.Based in Paulsgrove, Portsmouth, the soap films at various locations across the city. The production broadcasts to the world via broadband Internet, and can be seen on national TV on the Community Channel. Actively Engaging People Actively engaging people in the demanding filming process, which is then viewed on national TV, also helps boost esteem, enabling participants to succeed in other areas of their life. Creating a Community TV Soap Despite rejection of the idea from many community empowerment groups due to its untested pioneering ‘model’, with the support of Kevin, Steven was able to fulfil his vision of creating a community television soap. Setting the net Wider The premises of RoadRunner have featured extensively in the first 25 episodes of the soap, being used as a Youth Centre, police station and recruitment offices amongst others.
